Well known for its fine quality restaurants, the Canberra Meat & Wine Co did not disappoint. Our party selected perfect cooked rump, a marinated skewer (this is a suspended metal skewer with large cubes of marinated meat – good to share!), ribs, selected salads as accompaniment and sides of potato cooked in dripping and “onion rings”. The onion rings were not the usual chunky pieces, but shredded onion deep fried into golden crispy threads. Wines, liqueurs and dessert rounded out the meal- including a perfect crème brûlée. Staff were attentive and very courteous. We had a late sitting at 8:15 – our meals were not served until 9pm. The music was at a good level and while there was a full dining room, the murmur of people was at a good level for our conversation.
