Tasty dinner, weak service, greedy surcharges

It saddens me to have to type this review. Restaurants with Covid etc have been through a tough time. I see i wrote the very first review for this restaurant on Tripadvisor one year ago when they opened and it was a highly recommended experience from me. I was very excited on their behalf and have since recommended the restaurant to many many people. We have eaten there several times since and while the food has remained consistent, the service is a hit and miss and managements attitude is growing more and more arrogant.Watch out, Adelaide is not as big as Sydney etc where your other stores are- we are a friendly bunch down here- you will soon run out of customers if your bad attitude and disgruntled customers keeps growing…..Birthday party of 6 so wanted to try the BOMA seating where you are then requested to pay $250 when booking with a minimum spend of $500. We spent well over $1000. After paying we realised that they had not subtracted the $250 deposit, had to go and ask as our waitress was missing again. They replied a corrected credit card refund had already been processed but would take 5 days ! I insisted on the cash instead.PLUS they charged us a $17 credit card surcharge- what a joke ! No-one else does this- can you imagine how much profit they make with this trick.Yes its an expensive restaurant. Food & drinks were lovely although mark-up on wines are astronomical. Service was very poor, such a friendly lady but completely out of her depth. Why on earth would you place one of your weaker servers on a section (Bomas) which is supposed to be one of your more VIP sections? The chef was shouting so loudly to his team during the night, that my guests often asked if they were fighting- you should be able to command respect and efficiency from your chefs without having to scream so loud that you are bothering the customers who are the main reason that you are there cooking in the first place. The table is too small for 6 but you couldve gotten away with it if dirty glasses and dishes were more regularly cleared. We had to ask several times. The Sommelier (i only assume as he was dressed differently) brought the first $140 bottle of wine but uttered not one word. We tried to make polite conversation but no, he did not seem to want to be at work? Our wine glasses were never filled again- shouldnt the server top up everyones glasses? We did not wait long for our food. The shared dessert platter is such a great idea but why not give each person at least a small plate- we had to dig in to the centre of the table and scoop dessert to our mouths like pigs at a trough. Again, to wait for the waitress to ask for plates wouldve taken too long.Although we enjoyed our food, the receptions attitude when refunding the $250 deposit, the greedy credit card surcharge & uncomfortable weak hit & miss service will sadly make me hesitant to return. I do wish though that they would take heed of everyones comments and fix these issues before its too late.
