My date and I booked a table for an early dinner. We always go there for special events because we love the classy ambiance and good steaks. We wanted dinner around 5pm, but ended up getting there an hour earlier, and they were great to accomodate us. The servers were attentive and the food was good, although the fact that chips and salad are no longer a thing (you get one or the other and have to pay for sides) was quite a surprise. The meat portions are not huge and the price is steep for just steak and a salad tbh. Steak was done perfectly, they really know how to get it just right, although the strange sweetish glaze did nothing for me. Wine was lovely too. However the entire meal was ruined by loud drunks and an uncaring management. Behind us was a table of 8 men so drunk that they were yelling at each other. For the 2 hours we were there they did not eat anything, they might have eaten before we arrived, but during those 2 hours all they did was drink and be loud and obnoxious. Everyone around them was throwing them looks but despite the fact that we could not hear each other speak over the noise of them, no server intervened and they kept bringing alcohol to the table. How about that responsible serving of alcohol guys? The noise was so overwhelming that we did not even realise the restaurant was playing music. As I mentioned we had to yell to each other to be heard, across a table for two. It was clear that at least two tables around this group, who were loudly swearing and yelling at each other (albeit good naturedly), were also celebrating special somethings and we all had to put up with this ongoing noise. The servers even seated a family next to this table despite the fact that they were going on like this. Eventually I asked the waitress to do something and she said she will talk to the manager. She came back claiming to have spoken to them and said they will be quieter or will move to the on-site bar, but they were not quieter and they did not move. Despite this, no manager came out to move them to the bar or ask them to leave and the servers kept bringing them alcohol. All of the clients around this group simply had to shut up and put up with the noise because they were obviously buying alcohol that brought in cheap and easy revenue. The group left shortly before us and we were amazed to hear music and each other. In the bathrooms I saw a note advertising “Happy Hour” from M-F during the times we were there so clearly there is now a focus on selling alcohol at the expense of the ambience we were going there for. Unless you want to have dinner at 9 or 10pm I guess you will just have to put up with this kind of thing because too bad about your dining experience, right? We got an email from the restaurant asking us for a review and we gave them an honest review. It has been days and they have made no attempt to even apologise. We will not be going back. We always went here for special events but obviously management no longer cares about being the kind of restaurant you can have a classy meal at. We will no longer be suggesting it to visitors either. What a deep and terrible disappointment.
