I booked dinner here for my birthday, for a group of 6. The food was really great and I cannot fault it – kudos to the kitchen staff. However, they were severely let down by the wait staff who were incredibly slow and disinterested. Not the level of service I’d expect for the price I was paying for my meal.I was not so worried about the slow service until we had the bill presented to us (without requesting it) and were told we needed to pay and leave within the next five minutes because the next booking was apparently waiting. This was after some of our party had only received their last drink order only 10 minutes before the end of booking slot (2 hours), due to the very slow service. When we kindly reminded the staff of this fact they seemed surprised about how slow the service had been and said we could stay an extra 10 minutes because the next booking wasn’t actually until quarter past the hour (so we were being rushed because the other group were early…). When we left, there were lots of empty tables in the restaurant and clearly no one waiting to be seated. I appreciate the need for a 2 hour booking slot for busy periods, but there was clearly no need to hurry us out the door on this occasion and the staff should have been more attentive in the first place.It’s a real shame because the food was so good.
