As a person travels for work and have to eat, I don’t often feel the need to write up a review for the local restaurants. However, 6 Head, was an oddity given the experience we had early August.The Good: The food was excellent, and we certainly enjoyed the sensible portion, locally sourced ingredients and the thought process put into the dish.Wine and drinks list were extensive, but lack of product segmentation, recommendations and pairing. The wine selection ranges from $20-1,800 is a bit of a stretch for any well-knowledged wine drinker, and only to assume there is a wide range of clientele visiting.The view was second to none. Sydney Opera House at night was the whole reason we dined at this restaurant. Although my view was my partner and the Hyatt hotel.Criticism:The service was rushed, and I had to politely tell the waiter to “hold one’s horses” so to speak.The staff had little to no knowledge on the wine selection, and the difference between a Cabernet Sauvignon vs. Shiraz. The Sommelier made a special trip to our table and clarified the wine request.The “wait/anticipation” leave much to be desired. I understand most of the world runs on reservations, with the exception in North America. While quite a number of the tables sit empty the entire night during our visit, it was a contradictory to the first initial phone call (the night before) stating the restaurant was completely booked until the following week. However, we do appreciate the special accommodation the staff finding us a table without a reservation, as we leisurely asked for a table strolling around the area.Would I visit again? It’s a high probability. I think this place is best suited for business meetings or a very special date night. Our spur-of-the-moment decision to dine at this location was definitely a memorable one with a positive note. Reservation is a must, and make it weeks, perhaps months prior to your visit.
